Twelfth Night or What You Will?

April 1, 2011

So similar to my great cat adventure I now have a new big project I will be working on for the next few months. A number of my Emerson friends have been trying there hardest to continue being and putting on great theater, and similar projects since graduating. The two biggest things have been the creation of our theater company Rough Week Productions and our original web series With These Hands. One of my friends Kyler has a new project that we are all trying to help put together. His theater company Brown Box is trying to raise money to put up the classic Shakespearean comedy, Twelfth Night. We are all in the process of trying to raise the money to help put on this great show in Ocean City Maryland in September.

Myself and my friends all have wonderful and fun roles through out this process. Whether its acting, stage managing, or set design we all have our own roles to try to help put this all together. I myself have been asked to help out with the Stage Combat in the show which I’m really looking forward too. However the thing I”m really excited for is, I was asked to film the entire experience so in the future we can make a behind the scenes documentary to show everyone how this all comes together. Personally I”m very very excited. I have not had a chance to work on a documentary since I helped out on the Cape Wind documentary. The idea that I can help be a part of this project but also capture all the pieces that goes into it into a video makes me almost giddy. So from now until the end of the production I am going to be trying to get as much footage as possible.

We recently had our first auditions for actors a week ago. Kyler came up from New York to audition people who were interested in different types of roles. While the majority of people who tried out were good friends, we did give everyone who was interested a chance to read for something. They even gave me the chance to read for two different characters. Now I”m no actor by any stretch of the imagination, but I had a lot fun going up in front of people and reading. For two days we did a round of auditions, and I was there to tape as many of them as I could. I really enjoyed how loose and relaxed it was, and already this soon I see some great clips that could be used. This also just gives me an excuse to use my P2 Card, which I do not really get that much chance to use.

As the process goes on I will be updating more and more on how the show and documentary goes. I really can’t wait to see how everything is going to turn out. Lastly here is a link for our Kickstarter page.

If any of you out there have enjoyed listening to my exploits or are a fan of Shakespeare, I ask that you may consider donating. Even if it’s just $1 it will help go a long way for making a great show and a great project come together. I really want to see this all pan out because this is the fist time in a long time I’m on an adventure that is for a creative project, then for a job.

Adventure!!
