So today was our only shoot here in Arkansas and who boy was it a doozy. Our segment was on a cat that is a part of a local morning news team. We would go in and interview the news anchors and teams about the cat that is a part of the team. It all was good however it had a slight catch. This was a good morning show that started at 4:30 in the morning…..sooooo that meant I had to wake up at 2:30 in the morning. Last night after having a very quick dinner I turned in and was able to get to sleep by 7:30 or so! One second it was just about past 7 next thing I know its past 2 in the morning. So there began our long long day.
The station is actually not that far away, and the people there were incredibly nice and also had caffeine which was the smartest thing ever. We got some preliminary interviews and got some good B-Roll of our cat superstar. As the show was just starting I got a special task and a special shot I needed to get. We wanted to get a time-lapse of the sunrise over the TV station. If you have watched a TV show or Movie and ever saw a shot of the footage sped up where you see the sun rise or set, clouds moving or cars moving really fast that is a time-lapse. It looks really cool but it takes allot of time to get it done. The process its actually really simple. You set the camera up so it only records about a second of footage about every minute or so. However that means if you want to get even just four minutes of footage you will be there for close to over two hours. So while the show started I was outside watching the sunrise. It was actually really nice. I got to see the sunrise and listen to my Audio book which helped me foes and wake up.
After getting our time-lapse I mostly helped out getting remaining interviews and making sure we all had breakfast. We were done by around 10:30 which may not seem like much but to us that is already 8 hours that we have been awake! We did not have to be at our final location till 1pm or so. So we were able to get back to the Hotel for a quick nap and rest. After our rest we had allot of MOS however they were all friends of the station so it was organized and well done and most importantly fast! We were pretty much all done by 2:30 or so. We had a great lunch and now I am back at the hotel just resting and falling in and out of sleep.
While a very long long day it was a great first segment for Episode Four. It was a very nice strong start that I think it will look really good on the show.
So thats it for Arkansas tomorrow we pack up and head out to Mississippi. Also today marks the one month point of me starting this crazy and wacky adventure. Its very hard to believe that its only been a month because I felt like I have done so much and have heard so much going on back home. For those of you interested I found out that we will be done with Episode 5 and have our break between Episode six by the end of the month. That means I should be back home in good ole New England in just about over 20 days.
So a big grand adventure day today, I think I’m going to celebrate it with sleep!
