So I”m sorry that I did not update sooner the past few days have been just a whirlwind. Its crazy it has only been what four days since my last update? It feels much much longer then that. These shooting days man I tell you, so much happens in one day time seems to go so fast yet so slow and so much happens. Its been just two weeks since I have left for this show and it already seems like forever ago. Hell even last week in Seattle seems so long ago its crazy how much gets done in one day. So Anyway here is the lowdown of what went on while in the wonderful Bay Area.
First off lets talk about San Fran and driving. So San Fran is in my opinion a gorgeous city. Allot of people there are very unique and its very stylish and creative and its just a place where I can just see myself in. It just reminds me of a west coast version of Boston. I love being there but this time around there was the unique challenge of driving. I forgot we were going to be in a major city with lots of people. Our hotel was the amazing Sir Francis Drake Hotel, a truly nice and classical looking hotel. Staying there was great, I just forgot the fun challenge of driving in a major metropolitan city like that. Also the hills…..oh the hills. Going up some of those steep things when you have an equipment van filled with over one hundred pounds of equipment made for some suspenseful moments. But that being said it was still so great to see the city in so little time. Now onto adventure!
Friday: We spent the day going around different areas of the bay area getting different throw back segments. We did this for most of the morning and went to the Harbor area. After our segment shooting we went out towards Walnut Creek. We did a shoot for another animal planet show. I know crazy not doing something on cats! It was a very nice laid back style type interview and a relaxed tone. It was sort of a short day but still very productive. Even though it was getting close to late I did head back out again, this time to see my friend Amanda. I hopped on the Muni and headed towards Church St. We met up and had a great dinner at one of her favorite sea food restaurants. Yes you heard me, if any of you know me you know how I am not the biggest fan of seafood. But this place was so good I didn’t even care. After some great Fish & Chips and an Anchor Steam beer, we went for a walk. Amanda took me to one of her favorite spots at this park. It was this beautiful scene at night where you could see downtown and the bridge. It was a nice moment of tranquility. Sitting there with Amanda being able to take a moment to look at the city it was very calming and very pretty. I may not be able to see that many people I know on this trip, so thats why seeing her was truly great.
Saturday: We started the day doing more throw back segments. The one trick to this was we had to do one for our First Episode. Our first episode was done in Florida, so through some very creative shooting we were able to turn San Francisco into Florida. After getting our morning segments out of the way we headed back out too Walnut Creek to do a segment on this animal shelter. This shelter has a very unique program on animal adoption. We spent the rest of the day there looking at the process and interviewing the staff. Everyone there was very very nice and it was one of the nicest facilities for animal rescue I have ever seen. Before we could call it quits though we went to a family for a success story about how this program worked out for them. I think its going to be a very touching segment. By the time we were all done the sun had set and it was night time as we were driving back. In one of those movie type moments, I was on the bay bridge, and there was some traffic going on. As I was driving “Clair de Lune” came on my ipod. Having that playing while going across the bridge, I get to see the city to the right all lit up. It was a very pretty moment one I will probably remember. After that drive finally turned in for the night.
Sunday: Sunday was a big day. Were doing a feature on this cat with a very unique talent. One that has been happening for 3 years and has brought the neighborhood together in a way. We spent the good amount of the day interviewing the family, the neighbors and everyone associated with this cat. We spent the day and a good part of the night there. One part of this segment involved us being on a cat stake out for a good part of the night. Needless to say we did not get back till close to 2 am. I wish I could say more, but really this is going to be a very cool segment when its all said and done and I am very excited with how it turned out.
Monday: We did one final segment for our shoot we started yesterday. We then said goodbye to San Francisco and headed out to Palier. Getting there was a good four hour drive but it was very quick and relaxing. I am almost done with my third audiobook. I’m going to probably need a fourth one by the time we are done with this episode all together.
In just these past four days so much has happened its actually kinda hard to remember everything. But thats what’s great about this whole journey, so much to see and do and have a great time.
Ok I need to sleep I’m getting up at 6 am for our next segment.
