So I am roughly T-minus one week till I am moved into my new place with the bf, however this move is allot different then the moves I have had to do in the past. I’m not just moving into a new room I”m moving into a whole new place, like where everything there will be mine not just one room. As a result the planning needed to get this move going is allot more than in the past.
First off the timing of this move sucks! Its happening on September 1st when everyone and their mother well mostly every student and their mother are going to be moving into the Boston area. We were lucky to even get a van for that day and we had to get it all the way out in Framingham and sadly we only have it for a few hours. Granted we are only going to three places and will not be in Boston proper but every idiot in town is also going to be driving around in trucks and a lot of them are not going to know how to drive such a thing so driving as a whole is going to be allot more of a chore.
The other suck thing about our move is that this year September first is on a freaking Wednesday?! Seriously since when does the beginning of the month start on a Wednesday. So obviously I had to take a day off from work, and luckily I was also able to take the next day off too. But because it’s in the middle of the week it means assistance in this move is going to be totally down. It’s not that friends would not want to help me move but well all of them will be at work so there goes that.
However the actual move part is trivial and really the only bad part of move, I’m hugely excited to live in the new apartment and have a new place to call my own. That’s just the crazy thing though it will be my own place something I have never had. All five past apartments while nice in their own ways was never really “my” apartment. Sure I shared places with friends and the like but to me it was always well I have my room and then the other areas area shared space. This time everything there is mine and the BF’s. It’s a really cool feeling however it has made planning allot more complicated.
Things like setting up gas and electricity and cable and internet is nothing new I have had to do that in the past and I have no qualms with being in charge of bills and the like that’s nothing new, its figuring out all the new shit I need! In the past I just had to worry about what to bring into my room and possibly contribute some things to a living room or kitchen. But now!? now I have to figure things we will need I have never had to thought about before like were going to need random shit like rugs and toasters and lamps and garbage cans!?! I know it seems minute but suddenly there are so many small things were going to need for our place. Its complicated in the sense of what do I have, what does he have, what do my family have and what stuff do we now have to buy? Granted that feeling of getting your own things for your own place will be awesome “hooray I’m getting my own couch” “hooray I’m getting my own bath-mat and shower curtain! Its going to be my own GOD DAMN SHOWER CURTAIN!” But once again the timing really sucks. Somehow the BF and I have to move all my stuff from my sublet, all his stuff from home and maybe get some stuff from my house? We will have that extra day just no truck.
I guess I’m just surprised by the sudden surge of new random shit I will need that I have never thought of before.
But yes all crazy ramblings about needing a shower curtain, I am very very excited to have a new place for me and the BF and the cat and all gay things like that.
T-minus one week I think I can handle that.
